Company Description BrainStorm Tutoring, LLC is a mobile network of professional tutors who travel to clients’ homes to provide one-on-one instruction in a wide range of subjects, from K–College academics to standardized tests, languages, and music. Role Description This part-time Mathematics Tutor role is a hybrid position based in Paramus, NJ, with a mix of in-person sessions at students’ homes or designated locations and some work-from-home responsibilities such as lesson planning and virtual tutoring. Day-to-day tasks include assessing students’ math skills, designing tailored lesson plans, and delivering clear, supportive instruction in topics ranging from basic arithmetic through higher-level math, depending on experience. The tutor will monitor student progress, provide regular feedback to learners and families, and adjust teaching strategies to address individual needs. Responsibilities also include maintaining accurate records of sessions, communicating scheduling and academic updates, and using online tools when needed to enhance instruction. Tutors are expected to uphold BrainStorm’s commitment to relationship-based education by fostering trust, motivation, and a positive learning environment.
Qualifications

Strong mathematics knowledge across relevant levels (e.g., pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus) and the ability to explain concepts clearly.
Experience in tutoring, teaching, or mentoring learners in math, with skill in adapting instruction to different ages and learning styles.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build supportive relationships with students and families.
Organizational and time-management skills to plan lessons, track progress, and manage a part-time, hybrid schedule.
Comfort with basic technology and online platforms for virtual tutoring and documentation.
Reliable transportation for traveling to clients’ homes in and around Paramus, NJ.
Bachelor’s degree or current enrollment in a degree program in mathematics, education, or a related field is preferred.
Demonstrated professionalism, dependability, and a strong commitment to helping students succeed.
